About Me
I am a Nebraska native, growing up in Bellevue and attending Bellevue West High School. It was there, under the direction of Byron Braasch, that I found my love of music. After high school, I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a Regent Scholar and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Instrumental Performance on Euphonium under Craig Fuller. From there I remained at UNL to earn my Master of Music Degree in Composition under the guidance of Dr. Eric Richards and Dr. Damon Lee. During my six years at UNL I was a part of many organizations, including Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia-Upsilon Chapter, Golden Key International Honour Society, Pi Kappa Lambda-Beta Chapter, and Society of Composers, Inc.-UNL Chapter. In 2018 I completed my Master of Science degree in Nonprofit Administration through Louisiana State University Shreveport.
Aside from performing with many groups at the university, I was also a member of the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps from 2006-2008 as well as a member of their instructional staff in 2009. I have previously helped teach the bands at Lincoln Southeast High School, was an Adjunct Instructor in Music at Nebraska Wesleyan University, a substitute teacher for Lincoln Public Schools, the Instrumental Music Director at Midland University, and the brass caption head and arranger for the Railmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Most recently I was the instrumental music director at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska and then made the jump to administration as the Associate Dean of Academic Education. I co-founded and was the director of the Arbor Arts Collective and their ensemble, Tempest Winds.
I have since moved to Richmond, Virginia, started working at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and am enjoying getting to know the area and the arts scene!
I am a member of ASCAP as a composer and publisher.
